Modes

(c) WordRidden

The term mode refers to the manner in which an interpretation is carried out, in other words, it refers to the different methods of interpreting: consecutive, simultaneous and bilateral. Basically, the difference between modes lies in the mental processes or operations used during interpreting.

Therefore, when we talk about modes, we are referring to consecutive, simultaneous (and its derivatives) and liaison or bilateral interpretation.
