Clozing

Among the many abilities that must be developed we find the ability to be able to anticipate information, which is one of the most important skills that an interpreter must possess. In order to do that we may use cloze exercises, which are simple and effective. They consist of filling in the blanks of a text with missing words, with the help of the context given and prior knowledge. Our speaking rhythm should be fluid, so that the person who is listening to us does not realize that we are working with a text that has gaps in it. However, we must be aware that although we have a great ability to anticipate information, it may be challenging to fill in all of the gaps at a normal pace. This activity not only helps improve the capability of deduction and anticipation skills, but it also helps enhance analytical efforts and expression.
